First to Melbourne.......
We kicked off the Launch roadshow in Melbourne on Tuesday the 16th January, 2007 and what a way to start!
The whole team met outside the Post Office on Elizabeth St, got sorted into their teams and were ready to start...
The first task was the photo in the backseat of a bus, which proved to be a little harder in Melbourne due to the number of trams in the CBD.
Some of the pics were a little hard to decipher...
From there it was off to find an internet cafe...
Some teams actually went to an internet cafe to get on googlefight
Where as some others utilized the services of some friendly shop staff
All the teams got the answer correct as VIC won, so it was off to the Pariliament from there to work out how many lampposts are on the front steps. Again, all the teams got the correct answer of 14, so on to the next task.
On to the busking, with teams pulling out such popular tunes as 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and 'Jingle Bells' to earn their 50cents.
Next up was a re-take of a classic Beatles Album cover, with teams managing to dodge the traffic to get the necessary pic
Buying the Herald Sun and using a bit of brain power was next, with teams having to work out an anagram listed in the paper to get to the next destination
Some teams even ending up running into eachother while trying to find and work out the clue
The anagram worked out to be St. Pauls Cathedral, with teams racing to find out how many layers of keys there are on the catherdral organ
Some finding the task a little baffling....
Onto the last clue, with a pictionary style picture to be deciphered with early spoils being offered to the team who got there first
The end destination was the Belgian Beer Cafe situated on the ground floor of the Eureka Tower. One team going from pretty much first to last when they negated to call first and ended up at the wrong Belgian Beer Cafe in St. Kilda!
In the end it was the Yellow Team who triumphed with the Blue Team following closely
But through sweltering heat and a power cut preventing nice air-conditioned relief, the entire VIC/TAS team got to enjoy the food, great beer and share stories of their journey which was the Excelerate 07 launch!
